We’ve seen lots of posts on social media recently from Tree Surgeons who haven’t got paid for their hard work. There are a few ways to ensure you get paid on time… some perhaps a little more inventive than others!
1. Contracts
We’ve talked before about the importance of having a contract in place, and you can read more about that here. This is so important – a contract can provide payment terms and work specification.
2. Court
If you’ve not managed to get payment from your clients, you might be considering small claims court. But to have a strong claim, a contract is key!
3. The Alternative!
We saw this great post (see the image) from a Tree Surgeon recently who tried a different approach to get paid for a job he had completed! What a great idea, but a good contract is worth its weight in wood!
Go digital
One of the simplest ways to help with prompt payment is moving to an on-site payment option. Nowadays any smartphone can be turned into a mobile card machine via the likes of Square, Sum Up or iZettle, or use Apple or Android Pay. They are cheaper and simpler to set up than you may think. There may be a small charge for card reader services, but this is nothing compared with the REAL cost of having to chase late payments.
