Hi, I’m Simon, the Managing Director at Tree Surgeon Insurance. I want to share my true story with you, as it raises some important points.
Six weeks ago, I woke up with a sharp pain in my Achilles. The only thing I had done was play crazy golf with my 14-year-old daughter. The pain got worse and worse. It was so bad I couldn’t even get up to pee! My partner brought me a bucket… which I managed to knock over 😱.
To cut a very long story short, I managed to see a specialist, and I’ve been put in this boot for two months. I have been diagnosed with Achilles Tendinopathy. Now, I work in an office job with some driving, so I’m still able to continue partially working. But, if I was cutting or climbing trees for a living, or even working outside, I would be up the creek without a paddle.
I probably wouldn’t be able to work as a Tree Surgeon or Forester again. The only long-term answer is an operation, which will see me off my feet for at least 12 weeks and may not be successful… not ideal, even for an office worker!
The moral of this story is:
- If you think it won’t happen to you – you are so WRONG! This injury came out of nowhere and would have a devasting effect on any Tree Surgeon or Forester.
- Don’t ever kick over a bucket of pee!
- Get personal injury insurance ASAP.
